At least 800 cases of measles were registered in 27 U.S. states, the ABC television channel reported Sunday, citing state health departments and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“Louisiana, Virginia and Missouri reported their first cases of measles in 2025 this weekend: thus, at least 27 states have reported at least one case (...) The measles outbreak in the United States has reached 800 confirmed cases,” the media said.

In particular, it is detailed that in Louisiana the virus was detected in an unvaccinated adult residing outside of New Orleans, currently isolated but not hospitalized. In Virginia and Missouri, in each case, the disease was detected in a child.

Measles is an infectious disease that is transmitted through the air. After contact with an infected person, the chances of getting sick in those who lack adequate immunity reach 100%.
