UCV recovery work has advanced by more than 90%

More than 90% of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) has been recovered, thanks to the work carried out by the Venezuelan State, in order to guarantee the maintenance over time of this building, declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).

This was reported by Francisco Garcés, head of the Presidential Commission for the Recovery of the UCV, during a tour of the house of studies, in which he detailed the work carried out since July 2, 2021.

Since then, 290,000 square meters have been intervened, in order to measure the patrimonial, historical, architectural, landscape and cultural value of the University City of Caracas.

Garcés, in statements replicated by the newspaper Último Noticias, specified that 48 teaching and study buildings have been restored, six corresponding to public healthcare services, six administrative buildings, five university services and five facilities, four cultural buildings and one sports building.

An entrance, 686 rooms, 234 laboratories, six works of art, 615 offices, 495 bathrooms and 142 offices were also intervened. In addition, 14 courts, 13 auditoriums, 13 amphitheaters, nine gyms and five operating rooms were addressed.

In the same way, maintenance, felling, pruning and phytosanitary treatment of trees, sweeping and cleaning of roofs, street lighting and corridor lighting, preservation of green areas and waste collection were carried out.
