He also stressed that “since we have Simon Bolivar as a universal leader, we must say that, of the 20th century, Gamal Naaser is a universal leader”, because not only did he guide his people to consolidate independence, peace and sovereignty, but he also guided the world, together with other leaders of the time, on a path of independence, defense and sovereignty, “a path of defense of the freedom of peoples, of self-determination, of the basic principles of international coexistence”.
Deputy Deputy Minister Ashraf Mounir, during the act of relocating the bust, stated that former President Nasser “is a very important symbol in our political history.” He also mentioned that one of the most important squares, located in the center of Cairo, is called Simon Bolivar Square, with a very large statue of the Venezuelan Father of the Fatherland, inaugurated in 1979, an emblematic symbol of friendship between both nations.
