The
ambassadors of Venezuela and Iraq to the
United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food
Program (WFP) and International Fund for Agricultural
Development (IFAD), Marilyn Di Luca Santaella and Saywan Sabir Mustafa
Barzani, reaffirmed alliances and cooperation to ensure food
security between the two nations.
At
a meeting held at the Embassy of Iraq to
United Nations agencies based in Rome, they expressed their intention to promote joint
initiatives in the agriculture and food security sectors, in
addition to exchanging experiences on resistance to external interference
.
Di
Luca expressed his gratitude for Iraq's constant support for the Bolivarian
Revolution, especially in response to attacks
aimed at destabilizing Venezuelan democracy, perpetrated both by internal and external
actors who, without success, are trying to impose a change of
government, contrary to the sovereign will of the people.
“We are
strengthening cooperation and working together within the framework of FAO, the World Food
Programme (WFP) and the International Fund for
Agricultural Development (IFAD), on projects focused on agriculture and
food security,” he said.
He also
explained that despite the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the
United States, Venezuela has implemented social and food policies
aimed at overcoming hunger and poverty, in order to increase the well-being
of the population, advances that have been possible thanks to economic diversification.
