The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the arrival and possible operation of the FPSO One Guyana vessel in the so-called Stabroek Block.

In an official statement, published by the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, on his Telegram channel, Venezuela assures that this is an illegal action, since it is a maritime area pending delimitation.

Below is the full text of the statement:

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the arrival and possible operation of the FPSO One Guyana vessel in the so-called Stabroek Block, as this is an illegal action in a maritime area pending delimitation, where Venezuela maintains historical and legitimate rights.

This maneuver, promoted by the Government of Guyana in alliance with ExxonMobil, constitutes a violation of fundamental principles of international law, which require us to refrain from adopting unilateral measures in areas without agreed delimitation. By persisting in this behavior, Guyana demonstrates an open disregard for international legality and for the commitments made in the 2023 Argyle Agreement, recklessly jeopardizing regional peace and stability.

Venezuela does not recognize any concessions granted in this space and warns the companies involved that they may be subject to legal action, and that they will not be granted any right to illegally exploited resources.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirms its vocation for peace, but it will firmly defend its sovereign rights and will not accept provocations or fait accompli.”
