Through an official statement, published on Foreign Minister Yván Gil's Telegram channel, Venezuela greeted the heroic Argentine people on the occasion of Independence Day.

The communication pays tribute to the “men and women who, with courage and patriotic conscience, faced colonialism and paved the way for the freedom of the continent.”

Below is the full text of the statement.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its deepest greetings to the courageous and dignified people of the Argentine Republic, as this July 9 marks a new anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, proclaimed in Tucumán in 1816.

On this sacred date, we pay tribute to the men and women who, with courage and patriotic conscience, confronted colonialism and paved the way for the freedom of the continent. Figures such as Manuel Belgrano, Juana Azurduy, Martín Miguel de Güemes and José de San Martin embody a feat that transcended national borders and was inscribed in the heart of Our America as a symbol of the struggle for justice, sovereignty and the dignity of peoples.

Today more than ever, that memory must encourage the Argentine people to continue fighting for their full and authentic independence, free from all kinds of external domination and the surrender of their resources and rights. The spirit of Tucumán lives on in every Argentinian and Argentinian who dreams of a sovereign, just and supportive homeland.

From the land of Bolivar, we reiterate our respect, admiration and solidarity with the Argentine people, convinced that the cause of independence, yesterday and today, is also the cause of Latin American dignity.
