The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that communications have been sent to seven international organizations related to commercial fishing, including the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), to denounce the aggression of the US Army against fishermen in the waters of the country's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
“We denounce and record the serious violation of national sovereignty by the Government of the United States (USA), when on September 12, a destroyer of the American navy illegally intercepted the Venezuelan fishing boat 'Carmen Rosa' in our Exclusive Economic Zone,” he said through his Telegram channel, in which he shared the document sent to international organizations.
He recalled that during this event, the United States held nine fishermen in a disproportionate action, which violates International Law and Human Rights.
He also specified that this action “is framed in an attempt to hinder our productive activity and economic development”, which is why Venezuela requests “an international condemnation of this hostile act (...) that negatively impacts the exercise of economic activity of fishing”.
