Venezuela ranked third in the overall medal table of the 2025 South American Karate Championship, which was held at the Geraldo Magalhães Sports Gymnasium in Pernambuco, Brazil, winning 26 medals, 9 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze.

Karateca Bárbara Pérez de Kumite -55 kg adult won the gold medal by dominating the final 9-7 against her counterpart from Brazil, Kelly Fernández, while Argentina's Andrea Bolado and Colombia's Geraldine Peña completed the podium of the contest, according to the Ministry of Sport press report.

For her part, the Venezuelan Katherine Loyo also won gold in the kumite category -48 kg under-17 by beating the Amazonian Maria Coelho 7-4, while Jessica Agüero (Paraguay) and Lozano Tiare (Chile) won the bronze one.

In the under-23 kata category, the Venezuelan Diana Oligino climbed to the top of the podium with 23.3 points. She was accompanied by her compatriot Daniela García and the Brazilian Marina Gatti, second and third place, respectively.

The other gold medals for Venezuela were won by Armando Herrera (kumite under-12, -35 kg), Emilio Montaña (kumite under-14, -55 kg), Román Guaina (kumite junior, -55 kg), Lesker León (kumite junior, +76 kg), José Molina (kata under-14) and Enzo Quintana (kata cadet).
