The Attorney General of the Republic, Arianny Seijo, said during the conference on the territorial dispute surrounding Guiana Essequiba: “Failure to recognize the court is not an act of rebellion on the part of Venezuela and this is what Venezuela made known to the International Court of Justice last month.”

The official stressed that this rejection stems from Venezuela's deep commitment to international law, reminding the body that its functions are limited by the will of States in defense of national sovereignty.

On the other hand, Seijo argued that “the commitment established between the parties to the Geneva Agreement, which is contrary to a judicial decision, must prevail; this is also contrary to what Venezuela has as its domestic legal system in its Constitution or constitutionally.”

Foreign Minister Yván Gil was also present during the conference, who precisely contextualized the geopolitical and historical importance of Guiana Esequiba, reinforcing the Republic's institutional position in the face of this territorial controversy
