Venezuela recognizes efforts by the Democratic Republic of the Congo to achieve peace

The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, congratulated the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on the 65th anniversary of Independence, during a telephone conversation with his counterpart, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner.

Through his Telegram channel, he explained that during the conversation he sent, on behalf of Venezuela, “our best wishes and recognition for the efforts being carried out by his government in favor of the speedy recovery of peace throughout its territory.”

Gil added that views were also exchanged on the “convening of President Nicolás Maduro for a Summit for Peace and against War, in which African countries and the African Union have an important role to play.”

Finally, he welcomed the election of DRC as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2026-2028, “as well as to remember the legacy of the great Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba, whose centenary we celebrated last July 2 in Caracas with his son Roland Lumumba”.
