Venezuela sent a second ship loaded with 2,531 tons of humanitarian
aid bound for Cuba,
in order to support the Caribbean nation after the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa.
In this regard, the Cuban ambassador to Venezuela, Jorge Luis
Mayo, expressed his recognition of the initiative and highlighted the links
between the two nations. “Even in the midst of threats, even in the midst of the siege
of the Bolivarian Revolution, despite so many sanctions, what emerges
from this people is truly affection, solidarity, love for the Cuban people,” he said.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Caribbean, Raúl Li Causi, explained that the shipment includes food, mattresses and electrical supplies, reaffirming the commitment to cooperation between Caracas and Havana. “At a time when there is a threat resulting from climate change, a military threat, a threat of permanent economic sanctions, of unilateral coercive measures against our countries, it is essential to strengthen unity,” he added.
