The ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Congo, Laura Evangelia Suárez, with accreditation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), presented the Credentials to the President of this nation, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.
During the official ceremony, held at the Cité of the African Union, the Venezuelan diplomat conveyed greetings from the Venezuelan people and Government to the Congolese president, with whom she discussed bilateral cooperation and evaluated areas with enormous potential for cooperation.
Both authorities announced the start of a Spanish course in Kinshasa, scheduled for May, a project that is part of the educational efforts already being implemented in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, and seeks to strengthen cultural and academic ties between nations.
At the global level, the Venezuelan representative emphasized the importance of cooperation between the nations of the Global South to build a multicentric and multipolar international order. In addition, he denounced the adversities faced by Venezuelan migrants in the United States and the unilateral coercive measures that have impacted his country's economy.
Among the issues addressed at the meeting, the possibility of establishing embassies in Caracas and Kinshasa was discussed. This step, if implemented, would open up new opportunities for collaboration in sectors such as education, mining, oil, culture and science, to promote joint growth.
President Tshisekedi reaffirmed his commitment to expanding diplomatic relations with Venezuela and explored ways to strengthen existing ties. As a gesture of good will, the Venezuelan ambassador presented the Congolese president with chocolate of Venezuelan origin and a miniature of the emblematic Caracas Sphere, the work of renowned artist Jesús Soto. These gifts were highly valued by the head of state of that country.
The event closed with a mutual commitment to continue, where the development of solid ties, based on respect and cooperation, was evaluated. This meeting reflects the will of both nations to build a relationship that benefits their peoples and strengthens their presence on the international stage.
