The National Assembly (AN) approved this Tuesday the Law on Commands for the Integral Defense of the Nation, aimed at strengthening military preparation for threats from the United States (US) against Venezuela, through illegal military deployment in the Caribbean under the false pretext of “combating drug trafficking”.

The President of the Parliament, Deputy Jorge Rodríguez, highlighted during the regular session of the AN that Venezuela faces “the worst threat” in more than a century, and accused the United States of trying to promote regime change to appropriate the country's natural resources such as oil, gold and precious minerals.

The measure is part of a set of actions by the Bolivarian Government, led by President Nicolás Maduro, to protect national sovereignty against possible external aggressions.
