XIII International Percussion Festival will be held in Caracas from September 18 to 28

The XIII International Percussion Festival will
be held from September 18 to 28 in the spaces of the National Center for Social
Action for Music (Cnaspm), where the musical samples
of the National Orchestra System will resound.
In total, there will be eight concerts in
the Simon Bolivar Hall, four recitals in the German Fedora Hall and 10 master classes.
The event will include concerts with the Simon Bolivar Chamber
Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Joshua Dos
Santos; the Caracas Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Chacao Youth Symphony Orchestra.
The groups will perform a wide repertoire with
works by Russell Peck, Paul Creston, Emmanuel Sejouré, Ney Rosauro, José
Alejandro García, Alan Hovannes, Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach and Toshiro Mayuzumi.
Next, the Herencia Group
will perform with the Juan José Landaeta Symphony Orchestra, under the direction
of Maestro Pablo Castellanos. Among the international guests is Vincent Vogel, a timpanist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, who
visits Venezuela for the first time and will perform Werner Tärichen's Concerto for Timpani and
Orchestra, in a performance with the Simon Bolivar Chamber Orchestra.
For his part, the Swedish master Roger
Carlsson will work directly with the percussionists in master classes.
The opening concert, which will take place on September 18, will be given by
the prominent Venezuelan vibrationist Alfredo Naranjo and his Latin Jazz Session,
together with the Venezuelan percussionist Nené Quintero and the musicians Gerardo López, Roldán Peña and Miguel Chacón.
This same day, the
Tamborum Ensemble will be presented, composed of the musicians Luis Díaz, Jesús Guillén, Mathías González and Eduardo Yépez.
The recitals will begin on September 19.
They will include groups such as the Venus Ensemble, the Afro-Venezuelan Ensemble of
Los Chorros, the Lobatos Ensemble, directed by Simón Cortez, the Lara State Youth Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Arturo Riera, the San Agustín Nucleus
Percussion Ensemble, the Olimpo Ensemble and the Perfusion Ensemble, among others.
It should be noted that the presentations will have limited free admission, while others require tickets purchased through the goliiive website or the Cnaspm box office.
