“The Member States of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) reject the decision of the Argentine government to remove the Telesur signal from the Open Digital Television (TDA) grid.”

This was denounced by this regional block, which believes that this action “attacks the voice of the peoples of the world and undermines the right to inform and to be informed”. In this regard, he stressed that this decision “confirms the double standards set by the Argentine government, when it rhetorically brags about the importance of freedom, while, at the same time, curtailing the freedom of expression of millions of its citizens.

The organization highlighted that Telesur was created as an alternative instrument to promote the dissemination of the realities of the peoples of the South in their processes of integration and shared development.

“The ALBA-TCP regrets this type of action and hopes that, sooner rather than later, the signal of this communication medium so important for the union and truth of the peoples of Our Latin and Caribbean America will be restored,” the statement said.
