The first vice-president of the United
Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, assured that for
revolutionaries the most important thing cannot be 'being candidates',
as it is for sectors of the right that see this as a business.
“The most important thing, brothers and sisters,
is not to be a candidate; because it is likely that in the Fourth Republic being a candidate
was something else or for someone I know about, of those terrorist parties that
are out there, being a candidate is something else, because they are going to do business, they are going to
set up their group structure; not for us,” said Cabello during the extraordinary
plenary session of the Congress of the PSUV and the Youth of the PSUV.
For this reason, he reaffirmed that for the selection of candidates for the Revolution “we must be very strict, and we will be strict within the PSUV, but within the Great Patriotic Pole we are also going to be strict on the conditions that someone who is going to assume responsibility must have”.
