The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, stressed that from a military point of view, the battle was lost on February 4, 1992, “but from a spiritual point of view, what was left in the People was a great popular victory unifying our Homeland.”

He also recalled that it was his wife, Marleny Contreras, who, faced with the question of staying with his family or going to battle, gave him strength and said: “Go and do what you have to do.”

“Just as I and Commander Hugo Chávez entered his children's room to say goodbye, gave them a kiss, blessed them and entrusted themselves to God, so the People of Venezuela entrusted themselves on February 4th,” he said during the Mobilization for the 33rd anniversary of the Civic-Military Rebellion of the 4th century.
