First AGROALBA Expo culminates with 14 approved agreements

From La Carlota, in Caracas, the Executive Secretary of ALBA-TCP, Jorge Arreaza, reported that the first meeting of countries on the occasion of the First AGROALBA Expo, left 14 agreements that were approved in all its paragraphs.
In addition, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture of Venezuela and the Ministry of the Food Industry of Cuba; and an agreement between the Ministry for Productive Agriculture and Lands of Venezuela and the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy of Dominica.
Among the approved agreements are: Consolidating AGROALBA as a strategic mechanism for cooperation and integration of ALBA-TCP aimed at strengthening agricultural, livestock and agro-industrial production in member countries through the development of strategic alliances that facilitate access to productive land based on the capacities and needs of each nation.
As well as providing technical and logistical support that guarantees the effective production of prioritized items for the food sovereignty of our peoples, promoting a model of sustainable, supportive and complementary development.
Formalize the creation of a regional investment fund for agri-food development with priority on sustainable production and agro-industrial transformation projects.
They also agreed to adopt a regional plan for the promotion of regenerative and agroecological agriculture, ensuring sustainable production and efficient use of natural resources.
Arreaza highlighted that the work agenda addressed the expansion of the AGROALBA project; development of agroecological regenerative agriculture techniques; exchange of experiences and research to determine regenerative agriculture and livestock protocols; approval of health certificates for the export of agricultural and livestock products; Alba Azul project.
Establishment of the ALBA-TCP fishing fleet and the creation of a network of ALBA-TCP fishing and aquaculture research centers and institutes and the use of existing technical and productive capacities of the Ezequiel Zamora fish complex in Venezuela.
