The National Art Gallery (GAN) will open its doors this Friday, November 21, to celebrate the activity “El Joropo in Venezuela is interpreted and danced like this”, which seeks to honor the diversity and richness of the country's musical traditions.

The activity, which will take place at 3:00 p.m., will include the participation of representatives from the eastern region, including Juan Silva and his group Los Ponsigué. In addition, representatives of the Guayanese Joropo Asdrúbal “Cheo” Hurtado and his group will be present.

The meeting seeks to highlight the richness and diversity of musical traditions, offering the public a living experience of interpretation and dance that connects with the soul of the Venezuelan people.

In recent days, it became known that a group of UNESCO technicians approved the inclusion of the application file for the Venezuelan joropo as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in the agenda of the Intergovernmental Committee on World Heritage, which will meet in New Delhi, the capital of India, from December 8 to 13, 2025.

As part of the celebration, exhibitions dedicated to the different varieties of the Venezuelan joropo will be presented every Friday at the GAN. Later, these activities will be transferred to the Alí Primera House of Freedom and Culture, in the Altagracia parish.
