The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, announced the departure of the opposition member Edmundo González Urrutia to Spain as a political asylum.

From her user on the social network Instagram, the senior official wrote: “Today, September 7, the opposition citizen Edmundo González Urrutia left the country, who had voluntarily taken refuge in the embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Caracas for several days, applied to that government for the processing of political asylum. In this regard, once the relevant contacts between the two governments have taken place, the extremes of the case have been met and in accordance with international legality, Venezuela has granted appropriate safeguards for the sake of tranquility and political peace in the country. This conduct reaffirms the respect for law that has prevailed in the actions of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the international community.
