During the closing of the Extraordinary Plenary of the V Congress of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and IV of the JPSUV, President Nicolás Maduro explained that the leaders of the extremist right stole more than 31 billion dollars in funds belonging to Venezuelans.
“They received up to 8 billion dollars, while the state company CITGO has robbed the country of nearly 10 billion dollars. In addition, bank accounts in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, currently blocked, amount to another 11 billion,” he explained.
He revealed that key opposition figures, including the fugitive from justice, Juan Guaidó; María Corina Machado; Leopoldo López; Antonio Ledezma and Julio Borges, obtained exorbitant sums of money through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).“From the gold illegitimately seized at the Bank of England, they have also stolen 2 billion dollars, accumulating a total of 31 billion dollars that have been distributed among these thieves, who have promised humanitarian aid to Venezuela, but who have not sent a single cent,” he said.
