The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, affirmed that the defense doctrine of the Bolivarian Government is the most advanced in Latin America and the Caribbean, built on a strategic concept of security that breaks with the colonial vision of the past.

Venezuela broke with that colonial vision and we began the construction of what today is the most advanced defense doctrine in all of Latin America and the Caribbean, together with Cuba, together with Nicaragua, together with ALBA (Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement), because we are going together,” said the Head of State.

He added that the current doctrine prioritizes unarmed, peaceful, constitutional and legal struggle, and covers political, electoral, cultural, social, ideological, spiritual and economic aspects.

“Defense doctrine has allowed the country to face and overcome various forms of aggression, from the 2002 coup d'etat to the guarimbas of 2014 and 2017, as well as the economic war that began a decade ago. We have faced them all with a strategy, a doctrine, a plan and a united people,” he said.

The Commander in Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) reiterated that for Venezuelans, going backwards is not an alternative

“Independence has no alternative. The rebel freedom of our people has no alternative. The Republic has no alternative,” he said from the headquarters of the National Theater during the Extraordinary Plenary of the V Congress of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and the IV Congress of Socialist Youth.
