The Venezuelan Social Security Institute (IVSS) delivered, this Monday, high-cost drugs to 60 patients with hemophilia in the state of Barinas.
The regional director of the IVSS, Yusmaira Rodríguez, highlighted: “We are delivering high-cost medicines to patients who have hemophilia disease. Today (Monday) we treated 60 people who receive their free medicines from Caracas.”
As reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), Rodríguez explained that hemophilia is a disorder that causes the blood to not clot and mainly causes inflammation and pain in the joints, bleeding and bruises.
He assured that in order to benefit from this type of initiative, patients must go to a specialist and then they must submit the medical report and laboratory tests that corroborate the diagnosis at the state headquarters of the IVSS.
For her part, María Mendoza, mother of a privileged patient, described the aid as a blessing because they alleviate and guarantee the health and stability of her family by being able to count on her daughter's medication.
“It's so expensive and it's impossible to buy it because it's not for sale, we can't buy it, we depend on the health policies of the Government that supports us on a monthly basis,” he said.
