The health network in the state of La Guaira received more than 352,000 medical-surgical supplies and medicines from the Bolivarian Government to ensure the operation of the six main hospitals in the region.
In this regard, the governor of the entity, José Alejandro Terán, reported that this shipment will reinforce emergencies, operating rooms and hospitalization throughout the public network.
“We are grateful to President Nicolás Maduro because today we have more than 331,000 supplies that are already being distributed in our hospitals. This allows us to make strong progress in the care of our people,” he said on his account on the social network Instagram.
Terán highlighted that since last week, the ninth National Surgical Plan has been implemented in the region, an operation that has made it possible to continue reducing the accumulated debt of patients waiting for low and medium complexity procedures.
“This is the second plan of the year in La Guaira and we have already operated on more than 780 patients. Health doesn't wait, that's why we maintain a permanent effort to ensure decent and quality care,” he said.
He also announced that the weekly delivery of grants for studies and high-cost treatments is continuing through the La Guaira Health Foundation. “This week alone, 84,000 dollars were allocated, accumulating 771,000 dollars distributed so far this year. We seek resources where they don't exist, but we never stop supporting our people,” he added.
For its part, the single health authority, Nelare Bermúdez, indicated that the deployment of the plan activated 11 operating rooms simultaneously, making it possible to speed up procedures such as hysterectomies, sterilizations, hernias, phimosis, varicoceles, lipomas and trauma surgeries.
Bermúdez highlighted the direct impact of the operation on the recovery of patients who had been recruited through the 1×10 of Good Governance and regular surgical consultations.
“Thousands of people recover daily in our emergencies and hospital wards. This constant investment in supplies, infrastructure and technical training demonstrates the commitment to guarantee a quality health service for the people,” he said.
According to estimates made at the hospital level, it is expected that this week they will exceed the goal of more than a thousand surgeries performed through the Surgical Plan.
“We have more than 250 active health professionals, solving cases in the specialties of general surgery, pediatric surgery, ophthalmology, gynecological surgery and traumatology,” he said.
