La Guaira holds Nomination Assembly for candidates for mayors and municipal councils

This Saturday, communities in the state of La Guaira actively participated in the Nomination Assembly of candidates for mayors and municipal councils, in an exercise of participatory democracy promoted by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).
During the day, citizens and community leaders met to propose those they consider to be the best representatives to assume municipal management. Luis Aguirre, participant of the event, highlighted the importance of this process: “We are playing the role of Popular Power in electing our candidates. At this time we are celebrating, we are once again forming popular participation, which is very important. All Venezuelans must participate.”
For his part, Rafael Rojas highlighted the democratic nature of the initiative: “Today, Saturday, June 7, we responded to the call for assembly to nominate the candidates for both the mayoral process and the municipal councils of our United Socialist Party of Venezuela. We extend the cordial invitation to them to participate in the participatory and proactive democracy contemplated by our Constitution.”
More than 47,000 communities in 335 municipalities in the country have been convened for this process, which seeks to guarantee the direct participation of the People in the election of their representatives.
