The Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Chiquinquirá, announced the official program for the feast of the Patron Saint of Zulia, affectionately known as “La Chinita”, whose solemnity is celebrated this Tuesday, November 18.
The celebrations begin the day before, this Monday, November 17, at 11:45 p.m., with the traditional “Serenade a la Chinita”.
The Sacred Relic will go out to the porch of the Basilica to receive the song of “Las Mañanitas”, accompanied by the solemn song of the Salve and the ringing of bells. This event marks the welcome of the most important day, commemorating the miraculous renewal of the Morena Queen.
The midnight ceremony will be broadcast live on the sanctuary's official social networks and will be presided over by priest Nedward Andrade.
This Tuesday, November 18, marks 316 years since the renewal of the Virgin's miracle and 83 years since her canonical coronation. The rosary will be prayed at 4:00pm.
The solemn Eucharist will take place at 5:00 p.m., presided over by the metropolitan archbishop of Maracaibo, Monsignor José Luis Azuaje Ayala, together with local clergy and other dioceses. The mass will have the special participation of the children's choir Niños Cantores de Zulia, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary.
After the mass, as is customary, the Lady of Saladillo will go out in procession to walk the traditional streets of Saladillo and its surroundings.
The tour will be on 12th Avenue (Padre Añez), 95th Street (Venezuela), 4th Avenue (Obispo Lasso), Cathedral and 96th Street (Science).
The walk will be enlivened by the “General Rafael Urdaneta” Band; the “San Juan de Dios” School Band; the “Santa Rita” School Band and the “Manuel Morales Carabaño” Show Band.
This year's festival is held under the motto: “With Chiquinquirá let us adore Jesus, the source of all holiness”.
This atmosphere of celebration and faith is also framed in gratitude for the recent canonizations of Venezuelans José Gregorio Hernández and Carmen Rendiles.
