Merideños attended the assemblies to nominate their candidates for the 2025 municipal elections

In the Jacinto Plaza parish, Libertador municipality, Mérida state, the process of nominating candidates for mayors and municipal councils is taking place for the next elections on July 27, 2025.

Irma Colmenares, head of the community, said she was proud that all her neighbors and colleagues came out to participate in this candidate application process.

“Once again we make ourselves feel like a people, as a community, demonstrating that we live in participatory democracy,” he said.

He also asserted that it is important to choose well those who will be nominated for the different Mayors and Municipal Councils because they will be the direct link “between us and the National Government”.

For her part, Consuelo Rangel said: “We are participating here, giving our community leaders the opportunity to be the ones who are representing us in the different Mayors and Municipal Councils.”

He affirmed that those who are truly knowledgeable about the problems of the different sectors must be proposed, so that together with the People's Power, a solution can be sought for them. “People from the village, people who resolve,” he added.
