This Saturday, June 7, the organized people of the more than 1,400 communities of the Monagas state held their popular meetings to nominate their candidates for the 13 mayors and municipal councils of the entity.
The inhabitants of the 23 de Enero sector, of the San Simón de Maturín parish, met in the Plaza of the International Year of the Child, where unity and organization were protagonists in this democratic process.

“I think it's very important that the community is organized and participated massively because the work belongs to everyone. We are the ones who know the needs of our communities and that is why we need a leader who is truly willing to fight for solutions to our problems,” said Yajaira Rodríguez, a neighbor of the community.
For her part, Liliana González said that “President Nicolás Maduro has called on the people to continue participating, and after regional elections we continue to trust this process in which we ourselves are the ones who run, choose and decide”.

In addition, Tenesse Pérez, argued that this process is an
example for the entire world. “President Maduro and our captain
Diosdado Cabello have been concerned about listening to the voice of the people and here we are giving
a demonstration to the recalcitrant opposition that they don't impose anyone on
us by hand, but that we ourselves are the ones who decide,” he said.
It is important to remember that from these Base Assemblies the standard-bearers of the Simón Bolívar Great Patriotic Pole will emerge for the elections called by the National Electoral Council for July 27, in which mayors and councilors will be elected.
