The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, assured that the immediate impact of February 4, 1992 was the awakening of the conscience of millions of men and women who had been behind the deception of political parties, economic oligarchies, and bandit trade unionists.
From Paseo Los Próceres in Caracas, the arrival point of the Great Mobilization in Commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of the Civic-Military Rebellion of 4F, the Head of State emphasized that February 4 was an act of rebirth of an oppressed homeland, betrayed and plundered for 500 years by empires, oligarchies, sellers of Patria and politicians on duty who dedicated themselves to deception and lies.
He recalled that in that Punto Fijo Pact, as Liberator Bolivar had said a century and a half earlier, “we have been dominated more by deception than by force. An ignorant people is a blind instrument of their own destruction.”
In that sense, he asserted that this was the case in Venezuela until Commander Hugo Chávez appeared and became a giant “to be until today and forever our guide, our example, our inspiration.”
Maduro assured that with the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, the patriotic symbols, the flag, the shield and the national anthem were resurrected. “Our values, our symbols were being erased,” he said.
