President Maduro: We are following Chávez's path, magnifying it

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted this Monday the democratic legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez in the convening of the first popular referendum, to vote for the new Constitution.

“The first referendum to consult the People was called by Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías. This process began there, where Commander Chávez was the most democratizing leader who handed over the power of non-transferable sovereignty to the People,” said the Head of State in a new broadcast of Maduro Live de Repente.

With reference to the National Popular Consultation this Sunday, February 2, when the People decided on the projects to be implemented in the communities, the Dignitary emphasized that “we are following the path of Chávez, making him better”.

“Yesterday, Sunday, February 2, was the first National Consultation of the year 2025. Record of participation. Popular party. And the People decided on their projects. What is that called? Direct democracy, the democracy of the new socialist modernity, the democracy of the present and the future. The new Latin American and Caribbean democracy is born in the streets of Venezuela's neighborhoods and fields,” he said.
