Revolutionary Transformation: Urban Agriculture Joins the Ministry of the Communes

At an event held at the “Carlos Lanz” Agrourban Training Center, located in San Martín, San Juan de Caracas parish, the Minister of Popular Power for Communes, Social Movements and Urban Agriculture, Ángel Prado, formally received the act of handing over the hands of the outgoing minister, Jhoanna Carrillo, head of the Ministry of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality, as part of the unification of the Ministry of Urban Agriculture with the Office of the Communes, marking a a milestone in the integration of both sectors.
As part of the policies issued by the Head of State where he recently stated that, “what had been working as the Ministry of Urban Agriculture, all the equipment and work developed by this ministry, is incorporated into the Ministry of Communes, so that it works in a single plan.”
In this regard, Prado expressed together with the Agrourban and Community Movement: “Every time we hear President Nicolás Maduro talk about agriculture and above all talk about what it is possible to do them in the city and periurban spaces, he tells us that while men and women think about agriculture they are thinking about sovereignty.”
He also thanked being welcomed into a new family, for joining a great team, which has been working hard for years, is a source of great satisfaction. He added that “this Ministry is the important technical arm of training and training, for many people who want to undertake in the field of food production, industrialization, preservation and distribution,” Prado said, adding that “we cannot fail and that is why we must study.”
For her part, Jhoanna Carrillo, Minister of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality, expressed her satisfaction, stating that it is a blessing to be in the right place and time to promote the necessary transformations, she attributed this achievement to the commitment of the work team, and said: “I want to thank the entire team for taking on the challenge of accompanying and supporting a project that continues to grow under the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro.”
In addition, he stressed the importance of working together. “This is Nicolás Maduro's team, the community team, the transformative team, willing to be sensitive to injuries and not to turn their backs on them.”
Carrillo stressed that the recent merger of the Ministry of Urban Agriculture and the Ministry of the Communes “will undoubtedly deepen the task of empowering, transforming and living with dignity; I am very pleased with that transformative fact,” she concluded.
