In order to guarantee the full exercise of their rights to girls, adolescents and women in Venezuela, and to optimize the fight against violence against women in the country, the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) held a new regular meeting of the National Commission on Gender Justice.
The meeting was led by the committee's coordinator, Judge Lourdes Suárez, the Supreme Court said in a press release published on its website.
Suárez emphasized that the Judiciary works hard to reduce gender-based violence in the country, and to increase the possibilities of equity and equal opportunities in Venezuelan society for a better quality of life.
“We want to provide girls, adolescents and women in Venezuela with access to swift and expeditious justice, a judicial system in which they feel listened to and protected to fulfill their role in the Homeland with harmony and peace,” she said.
The meeting addressed issues of jurisdictional interest to advocate for women, with key tasks and objectives and to optimize the fight against crimes of gender-based violence throughout the Venezuelan territory, in addition to offering efficient judicial solutions and services in line with the principles enshrined in the Constitution, laws and treaties signed and ratified by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in this matter.
Also participating in the meeting were the president of the Criminal Cassation Chamber, Elsa Gómez; the president of the Political Administrative Chamber, Malaquías Gil Rodríguez and the vice-president of the Civil Cassation Chamber, José Gutiérrez; who are part of the National Commission on Gender Justice of the Judiciary.
