Today the curtain is rising! Monagas SC and Defensor Sporting meet for phase 1 of the Libertadores

This Tuesday, Monagas SC from Venezuela will host Defensor Sporting Uruguay, at the Monumental Stadium in Maturín, to play the first match of phase 1 of the Copa Libertadores.

Starting at 8:30 at night, the Guerreros del Guarapiche will seek to take advantage of the first leg as locals, with a view to getting their way to phase 2.

Those led by Jhonny Ferreira are currently in the twelfth position in the standings of the recently started Open Tournament of the Venezuelan Football League (FUTVE League).

For its part, Defensor Sporting is in second place in the standings, after winning the first match of the Uruguayan League season.

The winner of this bracket will advance to phase 2 of the tournament and will face the Paraguayan team Cerro Porteño.
