In a statement, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela urged Trinidad and Tobago this Friday to cooperate to clarify the facts about the entry of criminal groups from Trinidadian territory into our country.
In addition, in the document published by the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, on his Telegram channel, Venezuela questioned the disproportionate reaction of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, after the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, denounced the entry of these groups into our territory.
“The right thing to do in the face of this serious situation is to offer cooperation and willingness to clarify the facts. The virulent and high-sounding attitude of the Prime Minister raises serious suspicions of complicity with this incursion and jeopardizes the good cooperative relations that exist between our countries in fundamental areas,” the text specified.
For this reason, Venezuela urged “the authorities of Trinidad and Tobago not to lend themselves to geopolitical games alien to the interests of our peoples, and reaffirms its commitment to peace, sovereignty and mutual respect, recalling that any legitimate concern must be channeled through diplomatic channels, not through threats or unfounded statements that only fuel artificial tensions.”
