The People's Power Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto, announced Venezuela's decision to submit a note of protest to the Netherlands for hiding the former opposition candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, at its embassy in Caracas.

In an audiovisual material published by the head of the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, in his Telegram account, he specified that this decision is due to the fact that the Bolivarian Government “should have been informed, according to international protocols, that Mr. González Urrutia had been in the embassy since the day after the presidential elections of July 28.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Caspar Veldkamp, confirmed that Edmundo González sought refuge in the Dutch diplomatic residence in Caracas since the day after the presidential elections of July 28, where he also indicated prior planning for his departure from Venezuela.

Veldkamp also mentioned that González decided to leave without consulting his political environment, which caused confusion among María Corina Machado and other opponents of the extreme right,” reported the website of the State channel, Venezolana de Televisión.
