Venezuelan delegation present at the National Sovereignty and Children's Day in Türkiye

More than 500 children from all over the world came together

Venezuela participated in the celebration of National Sovereignty Day, the 46th edition of the International Children's Festival 2024 and in the commemorative events for the 104th anniversary of the opening of the Grand Turkish National Assembly (TBMM) held in Türkiye.

The ceremony began with the parade of boys and girls, who performed traditional dance shows from their countries, where the Venezuelan delegation made up of 10 girls, students of the Maarif Venezuela Foundation delighted the Turkish people with a potpourri of emblematic themes such as: Moliendo Café, El Alma Llanera and drums, dances characteristic of Venezuelan culture that received recognition from the Turkish people attending the National Congress and Culture Center of Bestape.

During the gala, Vice President Türkiye, Cevdet Yılmaz, thanked the more than 500 boys and girls who were present in the Eurasian country to send a message of peace to the world, through education and culture.

“This year we hosted 500 children from all over the world and extended the invitation to Palestine as guest of honor at this festival. Unfortunately, the war is causing the suffering of Palestinian children in Gaza, so today we are here sending a message of peace to humanity, taking a step forward in the hope of establishing a new future.”

In addition, the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, accompanied by the president of the Turkish Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, shared with the students of the 29 invited delegations from different countries of the world, where they expressed the importance of “preserving peace in the world hand in hand with boys and girls”.

At the event, the award ceremony was also held for the contest under the theme “National Sovereignty April 23rd”, where boys and girls obtained titles with their work in the areas of painting, sports and science from the hands of the governor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu and the general manager of the country's TRT television station, Mehmet Zahid Sobacı.

Finally, Professor Kemal Cavlan, director of Maarif International Venezuela, highlighted for the second consecutive time the participation of Venezuelan students in Türkiye.

“Our students left the name of Venezuela up high with their interpretation of the Venezuelan dances characteristic of this South American country full of joy and artistic quality. Thanks to the parents and representatives for their great support for these girls who left a big mark on Türkiye.”
